In Jesus' Names

What’s in a name? The name of Jesus carries power and throughout the New Testament Jesus is given different names that speak to who he is. Hebrews acknowledges Jesus’ earthly and heavenly roles and gives him seven different names that each speak to a different part of his nature: Son, Pioneer of Salvation, Apostle, High Priest, Forerunner, Mediator, and Author. As we explore what these names tell us about who Jesus is, we also discover who we are as members of his Body. We have all received the blessing of Christ and the charge to continue Christ’s work. He is our head, and as his body, we are called by his names which clarify our reflection of his Mirror Image.
